E-book Design
In the digital age, e-books have emerged as a convenient alternative or complimentary format to traditional printed books. Whether you’re an author looking to reach a wider audience, or a publisher seeking to modernise your offerings, my e-book service is designed to cater to your needs.
I take your manuscript and transform it into a professionally formatted e-book, compatible with various devices and platforms. Whether your book is a text-only novel or a complex manual with images, tables, and complex lists, I have the expertise to handle it.
My service ensures your e-book maintains the integrity of its content while optimising readability and navigability. I also take into account the unique elements of the digital format, such as interactive tables of contents and hyperlinks.

E-book Design Process
Before we can create an ebook version of your book, the manuscript needs to be edited by a professional editor.
If the manuscript has not been typeset and formatted, there is an additional charge to typeset and format the text file.
Once the manuscript has been edited, typeset, and formatted, it is ready to be converted to an e-book. At this stage, the conversion is done with InDesign to EPUB.
Adjustments are made where necessary, which include changes to the following:
- Cover dimensions and resolution
- E-book ISBN
- Paragraph styles
- Character styles
- Table styles
- Page breaks (removed to allow text to reflow)
- The text is separated into multiple files, with each chapter in its own document
- Interactive table of contents; page numbers removed
- Metadata, including publisher details
Once these changes have been made, the file is tested on the Kindle e-reader device and Kindle desktop app, as well as the Calibre e-reader desktop app. Further changes might be required for the elements listed above.
Once the ebook design has been completed, and the file tested and approved by quality control standards, the EPUB file, which includes the cover, is sent to the client for review.
