Brief Overview or Introduction
Summary: Commissioned artwork
Project goals: Conceptualise and paint:
- north-facing sliding door artwork
- south-facing wall texture
- east-facing decorative artwork
Client: Richard Davies via Anstey Steyn Architects
Problem: The room needed custom handmade artwork to add to a comfortable atmosphere that suits the client’s personality.
Role
Responsibilities: My role as the visual artist was to meet with the client, understand his needs, provide him with a proposal and cost estimate, arrange dates to complete the artwork on-site, buy the materials and complete the artwork, and do the handover before the deadline date.
Process & Development:
Research: The initial phase involved meeting with the client and suggesting a wetland in a wabi-sabi art style.
Conceptualisation: The digital concept art consisted of a three-panel wetland in a wabi-sabi art style.
Iterations: Atmospheric depth was added to the background.
Prototypes: There were no prototypes.
Final Solution/Design: The final artwork added warmth to the bedroom and complemented the personality of the client
Tools & Technologies Used: An array of tools from physical to digital, including acrylic paint, oil paint, Photoshop, photography and more.
Results & Impact
Testimonials or Client Feedback: The Client was very satisfied and commissioned additional trout fly artworks.
Challenges & Learnings: Balancing time spent on the project within the budget was challenging.
