Book Design
As a Visual Communication Designer, Riaan specialise in book design. His work involves typesetting academic and trade manuscripts for the HSRC Press in South Africa, as well as for self-publishing authors. In addition, he designs academic and trade book covers on a full-time basis for several publishers, including Boydell & Brewer in the UK, HSRC Press in South Africa, Penguin Random House in South Africa, and Real African Publishers in South Africa. He also works with self-publishing authors across the Anglosphere.
Riaan offers a comprehensive Self-Publishing Writers Package, which includes services such as cover design, typesetting, ebook design, eCommerce website design, and social media book ad design.
Brand Design
As Brand Designer Riaan offers personal and new venture brand design services, which can include brand competitor analysis, brand naming, logo design, business card design, email signature design, letterhead design, invoice and quote template design, and portfolio or eCommerce website design.

Riaan’s web design services encompass portfolio and eCommerce websites, designed with Divi in WordPress. He utilises the Payfast payment gateway in the WooCommerce eCommerce platform. He offers a three-tiered cost structure: Basic, Medium, and Advanced. Basic to Advanced SEO with Google Analytics can be provided as a separate service.

Visual Art
As a Visual Artist, Riaan completed and exhibited a body of work in 2019 at Trent Gallery in Pretoria. The collection, titled Visibility (2016–9), thematically explores dominator culture as opposed to participatory culture, a conceptual framework initially proposed by Riane Eisler.
