Building Blocks, Towards an African Century

Brief Overview or Introduction
Summary: Building Blocks is an academic non-fiction book cover design project for Real African Publishers.

Project goals/milestones: 

• 3+ concept options
• draft cover design incorporating client changes
• final print-ready file

Process & Development:
Research: The research involved connecting the theme of the book to visual art and design movements, and found connections between the African Renaissance and the Harlem Renaissance and Afrofuturism.

Conceptualisation: Various concepts of the idea of building blocks were presented and this modern flat motion graphic inspired option was the most preferred.

Final Solution/Design: The chosen concept features the various components of the African Renaissance coming
together to form the the shape of a unified Africa.

Tools & Technologies Used: Paper and pencil, Adobe Illustrator.
